Hon. Louis Dominguez, a judge with the Phoenix Municipal Court, was recognized by the National Association for Community Leadership with a Distinguished Leadership Award.

Marc R. Lieberman of Lieberman, Dodge, Sendrow & Gerding, Ltd., and Lawrence M. Hecker, Jr., of Hecker, Phillips & Zeeb PLLC, are the recipients of the Arizona Attorney General's Civil Rights Division Award, in recognition of their efforts to promote the passage of hate crime legislation.

Ernest Calderón, a member of Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, P.L.C., was one of five individuals to receive the "1998 Leader of Distinction" award from the Arizona Region of the Anti-Defamation League. The award is given to honor individuals who have exhibited extraordinary professional and philanthropic involvement within the community.

William C. Bacon, attorney with Raven & Kirschner, was selected by the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Tucson as the Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for May.

Leon Silver, a member of Perry, Pierson & Silver, P.L.C., was honored by Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona as its Outstanding Public Affairs Volunteer for 1997.

James E. Rogers, attorney and broadcasting executive, has contributed and pledged a combined total of $20 million to his alma mater, the College of Law at the University of Arizona. This is believed to be the largest commitment ever made to the UA or to any American law school.

Wendi L. Kuefer has been promoted to regional vice president of the American Arbitration Association.

Amy M. Samberg, a partner in the Tucson office of O'Connor, Cavanagh, Anderson, Killingsworth & Beshears, P.A., was appointed Arizona State Representative of the 21,000-member Defense Reserach Institute, the nation's largest association of civil litigation defense lawyers.

The American Board of Certification announced that Steven Berger, a shareholder with Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., has successfully completed the requirements for national certification in business bankruptcy law.

Rita A. Meiser, a partner with Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, P.L.C., was one of two individuals to receive the 1997-98 "Spirit of the Hospice" award from Hospice of the Valley in recognition of her volunteer efforts on behalf of the organization.

Dianne Post was selected by the American Bar Association CEELI project to go to Moscow, Russia as a Women's Specialist for one year beginning in June. She will be working primarily on domestic violence issues.

Fennemore Craig was honored by the Maricopa County Bar Association with its Kenneth Freedman Award for Excellence in Continuing Legal Education.
