The Board of Governors is disseminating these jury instruction updates to the membership.
FROM THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The Board of Governors approved these updated Criminal Jury Instructions. The Board is disseminating these to the membership for their use.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The following portion of the Revised Arizona Jury Instructions (RAJI (Criminal) 3rd) have been prepared by the Criminal Jury Instruction Committee of the State Bar of Arizona. The notes to each instruction explain the basis for the instruction and the authorities relied upon in drafting the instruction.

In the past, the Arizona Supreme Court expressed qualified approval for various jury instructions, which were then published as Recommended Arizona Jury Instructions. However, before the publication of the RAJI (Criminal) 2nd, the Arizona Supreme Court decided not to issue or qualify approvals for any jury instructions. Due to the action by the Court, members of the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors established guidelines for future revisions to the jury instructions, providing that this disclaimer be included for all RAJIs. Accordingly, the instructions have also been renamed Revised Arizona Jury Instructions (RAJI (Criminal) 3rd).
