Lawyers in Arizona have annual CLE reporting requirements. Our educational cycle begins July 1 and ends on June 30 of each year. During that time each member must acquire a total of 15 hours of CLE, 3 of those hours must be in ethics.

Rule 45(b), Ariz.R.S.Ct. allows the following exemptions:
• Inactive Members
• Active Members age 70 before January 1, 2009.
• New Admittees “admitted between January 1 and June 30 of the educational year”
• COJET (must still file affidavit)
• Out of State Compliance (must still file an affidavit)
• Other Exemptions

Active members must submit proof of meeting their MCLE requirements annually on the form prescribed by the State Bar.  The preferred method of filing your affidavit is online.  In addition, blank affidavits are posted on our website in .pdf format as well in the Arizona Attorney magazine issued in mid-August. Affidavits must be filed by September 15 of each year.

Non-State Bar CLE Providers
Currently, Arizona does not certify courses. Arizona lawyers are required to independently review our regulations and make their own determination that it qualifies for credit towards their MCLE requirements. We are, however, happy to provide guidance to attorneys. Regulation 104(A) identifies the standards to apply. For additional information, click here: CLE Sponsors/Provider Information.
