Version of One-to-One Mentor Application Form

What Do I Do As A Mentor?

There are three mentor programs from which to choose.

  • You can be a "telephone" Mentor and respond to calls from fellow lawyers who have questions in your particular field.
  • You can become a "one-to-one" Mentor and be matched with a fellow lawyer. For a year following the match, you and your mentee can discuss a variety of topics
  • As a "one-to-one" Law Student Mentor, you can provide third-year law students with thoughts and advice on real world issues as they prepare to join the legal world.

How Do I Qualify?

  • Telephone & One-to-One Mentors must have five years experience; One-to-One Law Student Mentors must have three years experience.
  • Mentors must be members, in good standing, of the State Bar of Arizona.
  • Mentors cannot have any formal disciplinary sanctions during the past five years.
  • Mentors must have malpractice insurance, if in private practice.

What Are The Benefits?

As a State Bar of Arizona Mentor, you will share your time with other professionals and create a more cooperative and collegial legal profession. Help others avoid the mistakes you made as a young lawyer. Help ease a student's transition, to allay a student's common fears and provide a positive experience for a future lawyer.

How Do I Participate?

Telephone Mentor Program
Simply call the Mentor Program Coordinator at 602-340-7219 and tell that person you wish to participate. Then fill out an application form. When an inquiry is made, the coordinator will give your name and phone number to the inquiring lawyer, and you can begin sharing your knowledge and experience.

One-to-One Mentor Program
Call the Coordinator and request an application for the One-to-One Program. Fill out the application and return it to the Coordinator, who will put you on the list of available mentors. The Mentor Committee will then match you with someone who has similar interests.

One-to-One Law Student Mentor Program
Call the Coordinator and request an application for the Law Student Program. Complete and return it to the Coordinator. With assistance from ASU or U of A, a match will be made.
